Dursley Rugby Club Update
30th April 2020
We hope everyone is keeping well.
Quite a bit has happened since the last update posted on 17th April.
The 200 Club draws for January to April were posted. Videos can be found on the Facebook page, and the winners can be found on the website at: https://www.dursleyrfc.co.uk/page?id=25
The draw for May will be promoted in due course. Thanks to Phil Case and Angie Valentine!
As explained at the time, the 200 Club is a really good and relatively inexpensive way to support the Club, so if you want to know more about joining it please go to the 200 Club page on the website (see above) and you will find details of how to do so. Please join us!
There was also the launch of the Dursley RFC branded Oddballs underwear range. This will go ahead if there is sufficient interest from enough people to make the initial order of items worthwhile - see the Facebook page to register your interest - or contact Chris Perrett or Josh Bailey.
The Men’s section announced the appointment of Rich Timbrell as their Head Coach for the coming season. We are delighted to welcome Rich to the Dursley Rugby Club family!
The Men’s section also announced the outcome of their end-of-season awards for 2019/20 – congratulations to all winners!
Again more details on both items on the Facebook page.
We have added a ‘Lockdown’ tab to the website page where we have posted some photos and videos as well as copies of the updates we have published. This can be found at https://www.dursleyrfc.co.uk/lockdown
This is still a work in progress and will be regularly updated.
If you have something you would like to share or think should be posted there, please let us know.
We continue to manage the affairs of the Club as best we can to ensure we deal with the loss of income and reduce our ongoing expenses. The Plan still seems to be working, which is good news! We held our first ‘virtual’ Management Committee meeting last week, which helped in keeping in touch. The M&Y Section did something similar this week.
We are also planning as much as we can for the resumption of activity so that we can ‘hit the ground running’ (quite literally!) when we get the all clear, with quite a bit of grounds work still going on, hopefully to mean the training and playing surfaces will be in good nick when the time comes! Thanks to Pete and Ant Atkinson as ever for their sterling work.
And my thanks to all members of the Committee and Club who are also helping with all of the above.
We have had one query about whether the Club will offer a rebate on the member subs for season 2019/20 due to it ending 6 weeks or so early. We have taken the decision not to do that, quite simply because the money is helping us manage the ongoing bills (e.g. insurance premiums, grounds work, utilities, etc.) whilst we have no income. It was this money, in the shape of your subs, that allowed each section to help boost the coffers of the Main Club that pays the bills. So I hope you will all see why we have taken that stance. If anyone has any concerns or comments on that, please do contact our Chairman Simon Bilous who will be happy to discuss it with you (contact details on the website).
A big shout out should once again go out to all of the members and supporters of the Club who we know are working in the various key worker roles – across the NHS, other caring sectors, shops & supermarkets, bin collection, posties, delivery drivers - to name most but not all! Plus anyone helping with the various volunteer networks that are helping people, including GL11. Thank you.
Further updates will be provided as things progress. If you have any queries about the Club or have any suggestions to make, please do so via your usual Club contact network.
Please stay safe and healthy during this time and continue look out for those who need your support.
Simon Bilous - Club Chairman on behalf of the Management Committee
