Dursley Rugby Football Club
Job : Part-time Club Steward
20th August 2019
Part Time Club Steward required
Dursley Rugby Club is a thriving community Rugby and Sports Club based just outside Dursley in the small village of Stinchcombe. With a growing sporting membership of 750+ members, and covering both male and female participants across ages ranging from age 3 through to retirees, the club has an impressive community reach covering Rugby Union, Cricket, and Dursley Running Club who are affiliated to it.
The Club has recently completed a major investment project which has extended its facilities in support of the continued trend for health and well being, and access to sport. As a result we are now looking for a part time Steward to manage the Bar and Clubhouse facilities, and oversee the regular cleaning routine for all of the buildings.
A more detailed summary of the key roles and responsibilities is shown below:
To take responsibility for all aspects of the efficient and profitable running of the bar and Clubhouse facilities.
• Including but not restricted to the following duties;
o Stock and Order management – ensuring that the bar facility is properly stocked with effective stock rotation to minimise waste
o Completion of weekly stock take audits
o Being available to receive and sign for all stock deliveries
o Ensuring that the product range offered meets the needs of the membership and all visitors to the club
o Ensuring that the cellar is maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness
o Set up and maintenance of a regular and audited barrel lines cleaning rota
o Responsible for the cleaning of the bar area, kitchen area and all of the facilities through a regular and audited cleaning rota, ensuring that the club maintains required hygiene standards
o Responsible for taking club bookings for social and other events eg business meetings, parties
o Responsible for organising bar staff as necessary for regular sports fixtures as well as other events including club bookings
o Liaising with those who run the kitchen area for regular sports matches / sessions as required, and to support ad hoc engagements held at the club through the week, e.g. business meetings, parties and events held from time to time
o Resourcing of support staff to enable the facility to be run when or if required
o Cash management, ensuring that there is sufficient change for the tills, ensuring that cash transactions are accurate
o Liaising with the management committee and individual officers as necessary in the performance of the role, especially the Club Treasurer
This role would ideally suit an individual with relevant experience gained from within the hospitality industry, maybe having managed or run a busy pub with both food and drinks experience. They must have good customer service skills, be hardworking and resourceful, and be used to working on their own initiative.
The time commitment will be variable as the sporting seasons change throughout the year, but broadly speaking the successful candidate will be expected to be available most Saturdays and Sundays, and on an ad hoc basis during the week, and for occasional evenings.
As the club expands into providing offsite meeting facilities for local companies and other organisations, then there will be a requirement to commission the facility to enable meetings to be run from the facility, by ensuring heating, toilets and catering facilities have been provided and that delegates to such meetings are properly supported.
The role will be offered on a self employed basis, with a negotiable hourly rate and the opportunity to earn additional bonus based on growing the turnover from the bar and catering facilities.
The role will report directly to the Management Committee of Dursley Rugby Club Limited.
