U13's pushed hard by Chosen Hill
12th December 2006
Dursley 31 Chosen Hill 26
The strong wind made this a game of two very different halves.
Dursley started well and the front row of Wilcox, Caddick and Akhurst upped their game to compete with a strong Chosen Hill pack. Sheldon was soon galloping down the wing for the first try and shortly after Allison’s intelligent running created space to add a second. With Winchle, Dinnage and Thompson adding further tries, converted by Stevens, Dursley held a 31-0 half time lead.
The second half, however, could not have been more different and with the wind behind them Chosen Hill grew in confidence as a surging run by their number 8 led to their first try. A poor clearance by Dursley gifted a second and Chosen Hill were back in the game at 31-14.
Camm and Rowe made some strong runs into the opponents half, but with two players replaced with minor injuries, Dursley found it hard not to be on the back foot and conceded two further well worked tries to make the score 31-26. With Chosen Hill pushing hard for the win, Pinker made a crucial tackle to help his team mates hold on for victory, but only just.
