Dursley U13s vs. Tewkesbury U13s
12th March 2006
Match Date: Sunday 12th March
Opposition: Tewkesbury
Venue: Tewkesbury RFC
Avoiding the snow bound pitch at home, Dursley U13’s travelled up the M5 to Tewkesbury to play in what turned out to be a hard fought win.
Centre Joce Chillingworth took first points from a hasty clearance kick from Tewkesbury charged down by flanker Seb Fraser. To their credit, Tewkesbury’s players came back with their own effort to tie the points moments later.
Following some excellent hooking against the head by Dursley’s Owen Turley, No8 Jon Turner broke off the scrum, beating the opposition defence to give the visitors the 12-7 points margin they needed to go into half-time.
The next ten minutes saw end to end action for both sides, with incisive runs by both Dursley wingers in the form of John Tucker and Paul Wetherall. It was left to dependable Turner to add the only points in the second half, one breaking off the 5M scrum to crash over the line. Conversions to Chillingworth and flyhalf Ryan Malpass brought the scoreline to a handsome 24-7 win to Dursley.
Joint man of the match awards went to lock Jamie Wright for his effort in support and attack around the pitch and to centre Chillingworth for his defensive tackling against much bigger opposition.
Dursley travel away once more this Sunday in their quarter final County Cup final clash with Cleve RFC. Players are reminded to attend suitably attired.
