Dursley Rugby Football Club
New club captain keen for promotion
31st August 2018
Dursley RFC's new club captain, Chris Perrett is looking forward to a successful year for senior rugby. Chris, 24 from Cam, has been playing at the club since he was 11 years old and understands the history and level of expectation on this year's squad.
"After a positive pre-season I'm excited for the new season at Dursley RFC. We have a great bunch of lads in the senior section and the main focus is to get everyone playing every week and running three teams. Myself, Jack Robson (coach) and Jake Ward (senior rugby manager) have high hopes for the 1st team, promotion is the goal and cup runs are also targets.
"To get the 2nds playing every week with a strong team is critical, and winning the combination cup is also on the agenda. The 3rds will hopefully continue to do what they do, giving the older boys a run out once a month but also introducing colts into senior rugby. Of course a combination cup for them is another aspiration.
"The ladies section has grown massively over the last few years and have become a huge part of the club. They help massively throughout and are fundamental in running the club. As a big fan who watches regularly, they are a pleasure to watch and play some exciting rugby! Some players have represented the county which is fantastic. I look forward to watching them grow even more."
"Finally, the youth set up at Dursley is run incredibly well and has been done so for many years. The majority of the senior players at Dursley came up through the youth system and Dursley have also produced many talents, playing professional, semi professional and international rugby. I wish every youth player the best in their upcoming season."
