Clubhouse survey feedback and plans
10th April 2017
We are grateful to all those who completed our recent survey on clubhouse improvements – we had 90 responses from across all sections of the club. The new changing facilities are now fully in use and the next stage of work to improve the club will begin in the summer.
We asked you for comments on some proposals, here is a summary of your feedback and the adjustments made to the plans as a result:
The majority of people agreed with the kitchen improvements so they will go ahead,
beginning in the summer
Most people agreed with the creation of new men’s and women’s toilets in the building that housed the old changing rooms – see below
We had some great feedback on how to improve and extend the social spaces. We want to retain a function room and lounge area as this gives us the best flexibility for ourselves but also our ability to hire the club to outside users
Following the feedback, we have drawn up plans to extend the players’ lounge into the area where the old changing rooms were, and build the new men’s and women’s toilets also in that area but this will be in a different place to that originally proposed
We’ll also create a social space on the veranda, enclosing it to make it useable all year around
The idea of a skittle alley was popular but people raised concerns about it being used enough to justify the investment – so we are looking at the cost of a temporary alley that can be put down and taken back up when not in use – this is better than it sounds! The location for this is potentially in the enclosed veranda
The idea of extending the gym was also popular and we are in discussion about how this might develop – potentially in the old shower room
The proposals about a new entrance (where the ladies toilets are now) also had some support and drew some useful comments which we are taking on board
We did have one suggestion to demolish the whole lot and rebuild, but given the difficulty in gaining funding support for that and it not lending itself to a phased approach we feel this is not practical
Based on the feedback, the attached drawing of the old changing rooms shows what the conclusions are, and the next steps are to approach this on a phased basis as resources allow. The first jobs will be to relocate the toilets to allow the kitchen to be extended, and then to extend the lounge area during summer of 2017, and we are awaiting a quote for the costs of that work. Other phases will take place after that – we will keep you posted.
If you would like to know more, or feedback further on these next steps, or even get more involved with the project or any aspect of running the club, please do get in touch with any of the management committee.
