Dursley Rugby Football Club
Training session with Gloucester Rugby
January 31st 2017
Gloucester Rugby players and coaches joined Dursley Ladies and the Under 13s squads for a special training session this week.
The training is part of Gloucester Rugby's commitment to grass roots rugby, providing sessions and coaching with players and staff.
Argentinian international Mariano Galarza provided some top tips on tackling and rucking. While Community Rugby Coach Megan Goddard took both team’s through some passing drills.
Dursley Ladies Captain Katie Thomson said: "It's the first time the ladies team have benefitted from a session with professional players and it's great to learn from their experience. We had a lot of fun and learned some great drills to use in our own training in future."
The ladies team also held their first open training session on Sunday for new players. Despite the torrential rain, a few ladies came along to give rugby a try. Stroud MP Neil Carmichael also met the team and heard all about the development of women's rugby in the area. Dursley Ladies RFC will be running more open sessions in the spring and welcome new players every Wednesday at 7pm to their Stinchcombe training ground.
