Dursley U13s vs. Lydney U13s
29th January 2006
Match Date: Sunday 29th January 2006
Opposition: Lydney RFC (County Cup)
Venue: Dursley RFC
Playing in a qualifying match for the GRFU County Cup, Dursley faced Lydney at home in their first draw.
Wearing their new Crest Nicholson sponsored strip, Dursley went ahead less than one minute into the game, when No. 8 Jon Turner broke through the opposition defence, creating the opportunity for centre Joce Chillingworth to run up the wing to touch down over the line.
Another to Chillingworth immediately followed, finding himself some space in the opposite corner this time. Not to be out-done, Turner battered his way through the poor Lydney tackling to produce two more. Winger George Dolling took the next, cutting inside his opposite number to run the half pitch length to the line. Yet another to Turner and one more to Chillingworth, added to by flanker Seb Frasers own effort with a sniping run from the ruck, left Lydney lagging 48 points in arrears at half time.
With spirits high, Dursley continued the second half much like the first, this time with flanker Josh Bailey taking the difficult route up centre field through the opposition backs, to touch down between the uprights. Chillingworth generously offloaded to flyhalf Ryan Malpass over the try line for the next, with Turner taking one more to close his tally for the morning. The final try went to hooker Simon Thomas, letting his forwards create the opportunity for him to dive over the line. With various conversions by Malpass, Chillingworth, Dolling and fullback John Tucker, the final score of 74 points to Lydney’s nil offering in return was a fair reflection of the Dursley teams efforts.
Dursley look forward to their next game, again a County Cup qualifier away to Clifton RFC on the 12th February. Training will next be held Friday 10th, 6.30-8.00pm.
