Dursley Tigers (U7s) at the Dursley RFC festival 4 October
5th October 2009
Dursley Tigers had an enjoyable day at Sunday’s rugby festival. All their pool matches were closely fought, with the team showing an impressive level of coherence so early in the season. Joseph McCoubrie was on good form, scoring 6 tries in total throughout the day. Toby Dakin and Jessica Reeves took a try apiece against Malvern, with Toby going on to secure another in the thrilling match against Stroud. In the final match of the day, against Cirencester Phoenix, new boys Liam Baker and David Penfold added their names to the scores sheets, with Liam scoring a double. The high tag count reflected relentlessly strong defence in all the matches. Tom Cox and Giles Dakin shadowed opponents confidently, taking some crowd-pleasing tags between them, while Emily Haynes wowed onlookers with fast breaks through the defence’s gaps. Archie Robson, one of the U7s’ more experienced players, supported strongly throughout, with fast accurate passing. Tariq Soliman and Jack Woolams both showed a mature level of awareness, covering ground quickly, and finding good supporting positions. The Tigers thank the officials and the club’s festival organisers for a memorable day.
