DRFC Beer Festival 2006
16th June 2006
OVER 750 people descended on Stinchcombe last weekend to join the frivolities at Dursley Rugby Club's third annual beer festival.
The event was hailed as "a great success" by its organisers after raising nearly £6,000 for the club. All funds raised will go towards the clubs purchase and redevelopment of its ground in Stinchcombe. Club development manager, Roger Batty, said: "It went very well. It's a nice family event and people seemed to have a thoroughly good time.
"There were over 20 barrels of real ale - all from local brewers - and 4 different ciders on offer. "We also had a big screen with the football on and a live band later in the day. "The festival takes the club ever closer to its dream of owning a high quality rugby ground and comes after the Rugby Football Foundation donated £100,000 to the cause. Mr Batty added: "We have enough money to buy the land now and are getting closer to having enough to develop it."
