U7s take on Frampton and Hornets
18th February 2008
A crisp, fresh and sunny morning saw some high-quality running rugby from Dursley U7s and the two visiting teams - Frampton Cotterell and Weston Hornets. There were some splendid individual performances from the Dursley players, with Solo Tomlinson and Jack Beale scoring four and two respectively for the Tigers, and Alec Lloyd and Harry Wadey both grabbing a brace apiece in the Lions' 4-3 victory over Frampton.
The Dursley teams also competed strongly in their other three games, although their team rhythm didn't quite hit the heights seen in their recent matches. Even so, the Tigers, inspired by strong tagging and support play by Joe Butterfield, could have quite easily held on for a draw in both their games, but for late opposition trys. And the Lions only lost out by the single try in nine in a pulsating encounter with Hornets. Aaron Tuck was Dursley's driving force in this game to justify his Lions' Player of the Week award, while this game also saw what was probably the try of the day scored by Dursley's Ethan Goring. For the Tigers, Cody O'Callaghan's commitment and focused tagging saw him take the Player of the Week honour, just pipping Alfie Galvin and Lillie Wadey despite their fine support play and a hard won try each.
Dursley U7 Lions - Ethan Goring, Alec Lloyd, Henry McCubbin, Tom Pilsbury, Adam Powell, Hal Smillie, Thomas Swift, Aaron Tuck, Ben Usher, Harry Wadey, Connor Woodward.
Dursley U7 Tigers - Dominic Barton, Jack Beale, Joe Butterfield, Alfie Galvin, Hamish Gardner, Adam Jones, Billie Lezard, Cody O'Callaghan, Jacob Parsonage, Solo Tomlinson, Lillie Wadey.
