Dursley RFC – U15’s Match Report
13th November 2007
Match Date: Sunday 11th November 2007
Opposition: Hucclecote RFC
Venue: Hucclecote
Score: 26 - 0
Starting well, Dursley’s rucking technique proved the stronger in the first half, with ball-winning efforts by No.8 Sam Kennett, lock Dan Bareham and flanker Josh Bailey. First in at the breakdown, Dursley’s forwards provided the platform scrum-half Jack Pascoe needed for secure ball to the backs. However despite several attacking runs by backs Ryan Malpass, Mike Beswick and Ollie Meikle, Dursley failed to capitalise on their advantage. So it was down to Hucclecote to take the reward of first points close to half time, with their backs running the quick ball out wide to overlap the Dursley defence.
Against a slim five point lead, Dursley made a strong attempt to get back into the game at the start of the second period, with prop Rory Chappell breaking over the line only to be held up by the home side. Even counter-attacks by winger Max Medlow demonstrating textbook offloading in the tackle failed to help the situation as Dursley entered into a purple-patch that saw Hucclecote break the Dursley defensive line not once, but three times in ten minutes to surge ahead out of contention. The final score of 26 – 0 was a sad reflection of a game where Dursley had played well for significant periods.
