Dursley United in a narrow defeat
Dursley United (2nds) lost by the narrowest of margins against a powerful Old Centralians 2nds on 8th September.
Fielding many combinations that had not played together before, the Dursley outfit put up an exceptional performance, losing 31-30 despite scoring 5 excellent tries.

The half-time score was 12-8 to Old Cs, and with their larger squad they were able to strengthen their side with fresh legs in the second half which started to take it’s toll in the sunshine. However, despite going behind by several scores, the Dursley side played some outstanding rugby, to come close to snatching the win.
Tries came from Dan Brooks (plus conversion), Jack Edwards (2) and James Wetherly.
In an excellent all round team performance, other players who stood out were Joe Bilous who was solid at full-back until forced off through injury, Duncan Peters whose searing breaks set up several of the tries, and Mike Kerr at No 8.
Skipper for the day Paul Winterbottom summed it up: ‘I was very proud of the way we played, keeping true to the type of rugby that has been rehearsed during pre-season training, and with the youngsters in particular all stepping up to the mark’.
