County Festival Finals

Last weekend Dursley Rugby Club played host to 20 clubs and 40 teams from all over the
Play started at 10am and the presentation of all the medals was made at 3pm on completion of all the games.
The weather was glorious on Sunday, a welcome change following earlier postponements due to bad weather, with some games only being completed the week before the finals.
The standard of rugby played was the highest we have seen, the progression from the under 8’s to the under 12’s in the use of skills and ability was evident. All games were played with the spirit of fair play and enthusiasm by all teams, and the standard of refereeing was very high.
The discipline and behaviour of all teams was exemplary on the day, and we received very good feedback from coaches and supporters alike on these points.
Both Dursley and the GRFU feel it is important for young people to be involved in physical activity as this helps to promote health and social skills. All the teams that took part had a very good day and should be proud of their achievements at reaching this stage of the competition.
Dursley were well represented with four teams making it through to the Semi Finals and Finals, with our best placed team being the Under 8’s who where runners up in the county cup competition.
