Painswick V's Dursley
8th October 2006
A late change in venue, saw Dursley U14’s playing away to the cherry and whites of Painswick. In a definite game of two halves, the first thirty minutes saw the visitors battle valiantly in defence and attack. Strong tackling by wings Jack Tudor and Jack Pascoe stopped the opposition from gaining momentum, and efficient rucking by lock Jamie Wright and hooker Josh Bailey ensured little ball came Painswick’s way. Attacking runs at the opposition flyhalf by No.8 Jon Turner freed up Ryan Malpass and Jos Chillingworth to make the required breaks for the backs, but to no avail. With nil points a piece at halftime, something had to give. Unfortunately for Dursley, a try minutes into the second half to the home side seemed to totally devastate moral. Painswick didn’t step up a gear; it was just Dursley that failed to respond. Five tries later and a final score of 38 points with no reply was a sad reflection of a game where Dursley, at least based on their first half performance, deserved more recognition.
