Dursley Rugby Football Club
Dursley RFC Future
In 2013 we launched our Changing for the Future project to design and build a new purpose-built set of changing rooms in response to the needs of our growing membership in terms of numbers and age/gender profile.
Following much work a local architect, the Rugby Football Union, Gloucestershire RFU, the local community, members of the Senior, Mini, Youth, Colts and Ladies sections of the rugby club, the cricket club and the running club to consider what was required we are now following up the successful Planning permission gained in 2014 with fundraising and engaging with potential contractors for the work. The current timeline aims to have these built and commissioned ready for the start of the 2016/17 season.
The design of the outside is sympathetic to the local environment and in keeping with the rural nature of the surroundings and is environmentally secure. The walls to be timber cladding of cedar or larch lapped both vertically and horizontally. The 3° south-facing roof will be of grey tiles with the ability to support photovoltaic cells and to facilitate the capture of rainwater which will be used within the building.
Inside the building, the six changing rooms can be used by players of either gender and internal access is arranged so that only the changing facilities necessary will available at any one time, minimising service and maintenance costs. Referee and first aid facilities are included as is a spacious equipment store.
The location of the changing rooms is adjacent to the existing clubhouse and we will have to obtain permission to re-route the existing footpath around the building.
