Welcome from the Chairman

From my point of view, becoming Chairman of Dursley Rugby Club is both a great privilege and a big responsibility.

A privilege to be involved in helping to run such a great club and community, and a responsibility to know that the enjoyment of so many people depends on some of the decisions I and my fellow Management Committee members make.

I also see privilege and responsibility as being something that anyone involved with the club has in common (whether as a playing member, social member, or parent). It's a privilege to be a member of what I think is a great club, and we all have a responsibility, in our different capacities, to keep it that way.

My priorities as Chairman are to continue the good work of my predecessor Martin Greaves in maintaining the club's reputation for being a thriving, community-based club which works hard at maintaining the balance between taking our sport seriously on the pitch and enjoying ourselves off it.

Having successfully developed our playing areas and other external facilities in recent years, we need now to turn to our buildings – especially the changing rooms and social spaces.

This is what our fundraising efforts are all about – to make sure that we provide good quality facilities for the users of the club (remembering that this is not limited to rugby – we have cricket and athletics too).
